Gregory B. Taylor Jr. is a native of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He moved to Texas in 1993 and attended Waxahachie High School where he was a member of the Spirit of Waxahachie Indian Band. His high school band director, Bill Centera, inspired him to become a band director.
Mr. Taylor began his music education at Navarro College where he was a member of the 1996 All-State Junior College Jazz Band and a member of the 1997 All-State Symphonic Band. After attending Navarro College, Mr. Taylor transferred to The University of Texas at Arlington where he received a Bachelors degree in Music. While at UTA, he studied with Ray C. Lichtenwalter, Bill Snodgrass, Phil Clements and Rob Rose.
Mr. Taylor was formally the Director of Bands at W.H. Adamson High School in Dallas, Texas where he served in that capacity for 4 years. Mr. Taylor led the Leopard Band to their first ever 1st Division UIL rating and first ever 4A Grand Champion title at a Jazz Festival.
In addition, Mr. Taylor is a Certified Audio Engineer and received his certification from the Dallas Sound Lab in Irving, Texas. Mr. Taylor is very involved with music technology and the recording arts. Mr. Taylor also enjoys playing jazz with his own group Take 2 and performs in the DFW area. He is married to Shana and has one son, Gregory B. Taylor III.
